mantis drawings

having found the reference i began the drawing, for this i decided to draw a grid allowing for total anatomical accuracy- the purpose of this illustration.

 i refined this drawing to the one below trying to keep the lines tight to make the paining a bit easier, i didn't really do any preliminary drawing for this piece the sketch below is about as far it goes. the brief itself felt like it should have a quick turn around.
